Royal Car Rental – Real Value for Money!

Before leaving Johannesburg we did some research on rental cars, most of which we found to be extremely expensive. And we were also warned of “private cars” which apparently aren’t legal to rent but are much cheaper. Being new to the country, we didn’t want to get in any trouble with police so we decided we would go with an official rental car, even through it was more expensive. We searched an we emailed all the car rental places we could find to see who could offer us the best deal. The best deal we could find was from Royal Car Hire. I dealt with Adil and he was in contact with me no matter what time of day. His customer service was great and the price was the best.  There were also additional benefits such as an extra driver for free, free delivery and pick-up and unlimited mileage. Adil said it was all organized and would be at the airport waiting for us. And he was. He took us to our car which was a little Hyundai i10, clean, unmarked, no scratches and ready to go. We were so pleased with Royal’s services and price we even decided to extend our contract for the car. Adil came to meet us in Flic en Flac and within 5 minutes it was all done and sorted.

If anyone is coming to Mauritius and looking to rent a car-these are the guys to go to. Hotels will rip you off even if its just a car for a day.

Expat Blog!

If you are looking at relocating to another country-this blog is the greatest place to gather information, chat in forums, ask questions and to meet other people. I stumbled upon it and now is one of my favourite sites. Its helpful and handy and the team behind it are so friendly and welcoming.

Having chatted to a few other expats that have moved to Mauritius, Mike and myself feel more at ease, knowing there are loads of young people from around the world, living and working there, looking to meet new people and make new friends. It kind of feels like even though we have never met these people that we are still moving into a community with a support base.

I just love the way people are looking for morning coffee buddies, squash partners, nature lovers interested in hiking, volunteers at NGO organizations, friends for their dogs and nail salons!

Expat Blog also organizes meet & greets for people in the country/area to meet each other and form friendship. Expat Blog have truly done a remarkable job! What a fantastic Idea!

Thank you Expat Blog and the team behind it! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Château de Bel Ombre

Overlooking a beautiful french style garden with the sea in distance, we enjoyed our basket of pastries and freshly squeezed orange juice. Le Château is just the most beautiful setting for breakfast, lunch or dinner. With its french style cuisine and stunning decor, Le Château is perfect for any occasion. It would make a fantastic wedding venue. The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making sure that you are happy. Le Château lies next to these gigantic trees that look as if they are pre-historic, their enormity is breath taking. These beautiful trees and the  lovely garden add to the peaceful atmosphere. It makes you feel like all you need to do is breathe in the fresh air and relax.

Le Château, if I’m correct, is a heritage site that was restored to become a restaurant. This gem can be found in Domaine de Bel Ombre.

Rhumerie de Chamarel

Every tourist should make a mission to visit the Rhumerie de Chamarel. Placed in a beautiful location amongst the mountains and lush green vegetation. Its a mauritian gem. Would be a stunning venue for any occasion-especially a wedding. As you enter, you are welcomed with a friendly smile and escorted through the lovely landscaped entrance to the rhumerie and restaurant.

The Rhumerie itself is just gorgeous with lovely decor contain photographs of the sugar cane and the workers. It really portrays a great sense of integrity and authenticity.

Do the tour-enjoy the tasting and afterwards have a seat at L’Alchimiste –  the restaurant at the Rhumerie. Also beautiful decorated and a lovely atmosphere. If you’re having a seat to enjoy a drink- hungry or not – I highly recommend having lunch. The elegant and flavourful cuisine is just heavenly. You can taste every ounce of freshness in the produce and the presentation is a work of art that you’ll feel guilty to eat it. We had a fabulous waiter-Jason if I’m correct who gave us great service! Possibly the best piece of fish I have ever eaten. It was the perfect portion, I didn’t feel heavy and uncomfortable, I felt ultimate satisfaction. Absolutely Delicious. High five to the Chef! The meal was so superb! Dessert was fantastic-packed full of flavour!
